Building Bye-Laws are legal tools used to regulate coverage, height, building bulk, and architectural design and construction aspects of buildings so as to achieve orderly development of an area. They are mandatory in nature and serve to protect buildings against fire, earthquake, noise, structural failures and other hazards.

This amendment document to the Model Building Bye-laws, 2016 was published by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MOHUA) in February 2019.

This document is a revision to the guidelines & standards for charging infrastructure for the electric vehicle issued by this Ministry of Power on 14th December 2018.

This document containing a list of State Nodal Agencies under the provision of “Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles-Guidelines and Standards" was issued by Ministry of Power on 14th December 2018.

Government of India have taken multiple initiatives to promote manufacturing and adoption of electric vehicles in India. With the support of the government, Electric vehicles have started penetrating in the Indian Market. However, the availability of charging infrastructure is one of the key requirements for accelerated adoption of electric vehicles in India. It is proposed to encourage this by laying down an enabling framework.

The central government in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), specified the energy consumption standards for motor vehicles which are type approved under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, with at least four wheels, other than quadricycles, used for the carriage of passengers and their luggage and comprising not more than 9 seats including the driver's seat. 

Central Government in consultation with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, specified the constant speed fuel consumption standard for heavy-duty commercial vehicles of category M3 and N3 with gross vehicle weight exceeding twelve tonnes in accordance with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.

The "Charging Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles - Guidelines and Standards" were issued by the Ministry of Power on 14.12.2018 which were subsequently revised on 01.10.2019. After careful consideration, a few amendments have been made in the revised guidelines which were notified through this document.

A draft of certain rules was published to amend the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, to add the electric vehicles as the means of last-mile connectivity for the transport of passengers for hire or reward. This inclusion was done provided certain rules and sub-rules as mentioned in this amendment document.

This notification was further to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 with the insertion of Specifications for Hydrogen Enriched Compressed Natural Gas (HCNG) and The CNG/Bio-CNG/HCNG Vehicles by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India on 25th September 2020.
