USER DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS AND DECLARATION OF CONSENT FOR DIGITAL LIBRARY ON GREEN MOBILITY (DLGM)
This policy document informs you of DLGM website's policies regarding the data collection, further use and disclosure of information which we receive from users of this LGM website through computer systems and mobile devises (hereinafter referred to as "DLGM website"). By visiting the DLGM website maintained by TERI, you agree to the collection and use of personal data by us as provided by you, in accordance with this policy. If you disagree with any of the terms herein, please immediately bring into the notice of administrative department of the DLGM website.
We understand and recognise the importance of protecting information of users as per GDPR (Global Data Protection Rights) and Data Sharing olicy of India. We are committed to safeguarding the online privacy of our users and do not intend to sell, lend, rent or provide your information to any third party.
1. How We Collect Information
You can visit our website and use some of our Internet offerings without providing any personal information. Whenever you access the website, the web server merely automatically stores access data in server log files, which are automatically communicated by your browser, such as the name of the requested file, the last website visited, the date and time of the access, the browser used, the amount of data transferred, the IP address, the requesting provider, etc. Within the scope of processing on our behalf, a third-party provider renders the services for hosting and displaying the website for us.
For the purpose of shortening the loading time of our online presence, we also use a Content Delivery Network ("CDN"), in which the website is delivered via the web server of a CDN provider who works for us in the context of order processing. Access data is also collected accordingly on the provider's web servers.
All access data is stored for a period of seven days. This data is evaluated exclusively to ensure trouble-free operation of the website, error analysis and to improve our offerings. The use of a CDN provider, as well as the procedure described here, serves to safeguard our overriding legitimate interests in the correct presentation of our offering in accordance with Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 (f) Global Data Protection Rights (GDPR).
When you visit and register on DLGM website, we collect your information which you may provide while registering for RSS feeds, completing 'Contact Us' form and submitting/ downloading contents as follows:
- Personal information (your name, affiliation, email address, etc.)
- Demographic information (city, state, country, etc.)
2. How We May Use the Collected Information
We would collect personally identifiable data if you provide us with this information when contacting us (e.g. via contact form or email), when registering for a user account or in the course of your booking, for example when accessing e-resources in the website domain. The data collection details are included under Registration and Account (Section 4.3).
We may use the information collected from you to, among other things, send information/ updates about the programmes/ events, respond to your query, contact you and to manage and facilitate you during the webinars. In these cases, we collect and process the data provided by you in order to execute special RSS feed knowledge-based services which you have opted for in the said DLGM website. The only exception to this is if you have expressly consented to further use of your data or if we reserve the right to use your data for any other purpose that is permitted by law and about which we inform you below.
3. How We May Share the Collected Information
We will not share your personal sensitive data or information to any third party without your consent except as required by law. Based on your consent, your information may be shared with our successor entities, who require it as a part of their functional responsibility.
4. Visiting the DLGM Portal/Website
4.1 Server Log Files
When you visit our website, the web browser of your device (e.g. computer, smartphone, tablet) communicates with our web server before the requested web page can be displayed. All requests that our web server receives from the web browser of your device are automatically recorded in a log file.
A log file contains the following data:
- Internet Protocol address (IP address) of your device,
- Date and time of when you accessed the page,
- Name of the files or web pages you accessed,
- Content you accessed,
- Volume of data transmitted, in bytes,
- Operating system, browser type & language, browser version on your device,
- Internet page from which you accessed our site.
The data is stored in our computer system.
(1) Purposes of data processing: We use the data to ensure the security of the network and information.
(2) Legal basis: We process the data on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. e-GDPR.
(3) Planned duration of storage: We delete the data after seven days.
(4) No objection: You cannot object to the processing of data using log files.
4.2 Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device and saved by your browser. The session cookies are deleted once you close your application but persistent cookies are retained until they expire unless you delete them manually.
Cookies help to make our applications more user-friendly and efficient. You can configure your browser to inform you about the use of cookies so that you can decide on a case-by-case basis whether to accept or reject a cookie. Alternatively, your browser can be configured to automatically accept cookies under certain conditions or to always reject them, or to automatically delete cookies when closing your browser. However, disabling cookies may prevent certain functions of the application from working properly.
4.3 Registration and Account
To register, we process your login data (email address and password), which gives you access to personalised offers such as knowledge-based services which you have opted for, the consents you have given, as well as your country and preferred language.
a) Data about yourself and contents created by you
We collect and process the data provided by you within the scope to check your application for an account to provide the free knowledge-based services in which you participate (filling up of forms, comment function, content submission, full-text content access, RSS feeds, etc.)
Account setup: When the account is being created, we save
- Your username,
- Your password,
- Your email address,
- Your IP address,
- Date and time of setup and confirmation
- Your interest areas/subject domains so that RSS service can be initiated, if you require it.
b) Data publication
Some of the data you store using the website account is visible to other users. This includes, for example, your name or username, your posts including creation date and time, your gender and your comments/suggestions.
c) Deletion
If you do not confirm your registration within 7 days, your account will be deleted along with the data you provided during registration. If you confirm the registration, a user account will be created according to the present explanations. These will remain permanently unless you request their deletion
5. Use of Social Media Plugins
We may use social media plugins from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube to make it easier for you to share our online services.
a) Sharing data with social networking sites
When you visit our website, no data is passed on to social networking sites. Only when you activate the social plugins via the opt-in option do the social networks receive the information that you have visited our websites. You should assume that the social networks will collect your data, store it as user profiles and use it for advertising, market research and to make their websites user-friendly. The data collection by the social networking sites takes place regardless of whether you have a user account there and are logged in with them. If you are logged in to the social networking sites, the data will be assigned to your user account at the respective social network.
b) Planned duration of storage
We cannot influence the data processing operations carried out by the social networking sites. We do not determine which data is processed by social networking sites for which purposes and within which storage periods.
c) Cookies
Social networking sites typically store cookies on your device. We cannot influence the content, type and function of cookies.
d) Objection
If you want to make sure that the social networking sites do not collect your data, then you must check that the social media plugins are not activated. The same applies if you no longer want to use the social media plugins.
e) Examples: Social Media channels
DLGM website may use functions from the Listservs & Social media (E-mail, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, LinkedIn) networks for sharing knowledge.
- LinkedIn Plugin
For example, LinkedIn service is provided by LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
Each time one of our pages containing Social media/LinkedIn features is accessed, your browser establishes a direct connection to the Social media/LinkedIn servers. Social media/LinkedIn is informed that you have visited our web pages from your IP address. If you use the LinkedIn "Recommend" button and are logged into your LinkedIn account, it is possible for LinkedIn to associate your visit to our website to your user account. Same is true for other social media network as well. - Youtube Plugin/ Widget
Our website may have YouTube services integrated into it. The operator of the pages is YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.
If you visit one of our pages featuring a YouTube plugin, a connection to the YouTube servers is established. Here the YouTube server is informed about which of our pages you have visited.
If you are logged in to your YouTube account, YouTube allows you to associate your browsing behaviour directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube accountFor further details about YouTube's policies, please visit their website.
6. Links to Third Party Sites
DLGM website may contain links to other sites. Please be aware that TERI is not responsible for the privacy policies of such other websites. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these sites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
7. Corrections/Updating/Deletion of Personal Information
You may contact TERI at mailbox@teri.res.in if your information changes and we will update it accordingly. We keep the information that you provide us when you visit DLGM website till the time the purpose for which it has been collected is no longer valid.
You may also contact us to delete the information that we hold about you.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may modify this Policy from time to time to better address your privacy concerns or to make other additions or changes that we deem appropriate in accordance with the law being in force. In case of any changes to our Policy, we will publish the updated Policy on our website.
