European new car registrations were 8% lower in October 2020 than one year ago.Year-to-date (YTD) registration numbers for 2020 are catching up but are still about 28% lower than in 2019.

Going by recent policy announcements, India has clearly turned to electrifying mobility to decarbonize growth and for cleaner air. The government believes in this transition pathway, something that is evident when it announced phase-2 of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) policy just ahead of national elections.
Electric mobility is the way forward. While the buzz around electric mobility is encouraging, to truly address the problem of increasing air pollution and accelerate climate action we need to ensure that the electric vehicles are charged through clean energy.
India’s focus on next-gen mobility has definitely taken on legs under the current government, but the ‘National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020’ was actually unveiled in 2013.
