Commercial vehicles major Ashok Leyland is consolidating the entire electric vehicles (EV) business of the group, including UK-subsidiary Optare into a new company called Switch Mobility. The new company will be launching an electric van in India by the end of this year and it will be aimed at commercial vehicle fleet operators.

A new study published by International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) lays to rest the tired argument that electric vehicles aren’t much cleaner than internal combustion vehicles. Over the life cycle of an EV — from digging up the materials needed to build it to eventually laying the car to rest — it will release fewer greenhouse gas emissions than a gas-powered car, the research found.

Maharashtra EV policy to accelerate electric vehicle adoption

Navi Mumbai gets electric vehicle charging station

The EV charging station has been set up in Turbhe TTC industrial area, while the sub-centre has been proposed at Sector 13 in Airoli. The charging station has 21 AC/DC EV chargers for both two and four-wheelers. These include four DC fast chargers of 15 to 50 kW capacity and 17 AC chargers of 3.5 to 7.5 kW capacity. There is also provision for vehicles requiring AC slow charging.

Goa to subsidise 11,000 electric vehicles annually for 5 years

As per the draft scheme for promotion of electric vehicles in Goa, every year for the next five years, subsidy will be given to 10,000 two wheelers not exceeding Rs 10 crore per year, 500 three wheelers not exceeding Rs 1 crore and around 500 four wheelers not exceeding Rs 14 crore. The subsidy will be capped at Rs 25 crore annually.
