Electric three-wheelers rev up for rapid growth in India's EV market

Encouraged by the rapid growth of the electric three-wheelers, manufacturers of such vehicles are betting big on the segment. Most of them have lined up aggressive expansion plans in capacities and new products. Among other things, the segment, like the e-two-wheelers, has immensely benefited from the government’s policy push, particularly the FAME II subsidy scheme.

India to work towards zero-emission cars by 2040

India has joined over 30 other countries in signing a declaration that promises to work towards ensuring that only zero-emission cars and vans are sold by the year 2040. However, this timeline is meant mainly for the developed country signatories, and is not a legally-binding commitment. Emerging markets like India have only promised to work “intensely towards accelerated proliferation and adoption of zero-emission vehicles”.

India launches E-Amrit portal on EVs at COP26

E-Amrit is a one-stop destination for all information on electric vehicles—busting myths around the adoption of EVs, their purchase, investment opportunities, policies, subsidies, etc. The portal has been developed and hosted by NITI Aayog under a collaborative knowledge exchange programme with the UK government and as part of the UK–India Joint Roadmap 2030, signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries.

Delhi government launches single window clearance, subsidy for two-wheeler EV charging points

The single window process is being made available both online and through a phone call. Under the subsidy scheme, for an electric two/three-wheeler, one will only have to spend INR 2500 for a charging point. On the directions of the Delhi government, power distribution companies have empanelled 12 vendors to facilitate the installation of slow and moderate chargers.

IOC to set up 10,000 EV charging stations in next three years

Mr S M Vaidya, Chairman, IOC said that 2000 EV charging stations will be established in the next 12 months and another 8000 in the next two years to achieve target of 10,000 EV charging stations in the next three years.

New protocol to address privacy issues in electric vehicles

Different types of messaging and charging infrastructure will be established in public places and they could be prone to security and privacy concerns. Researchers at the National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh, working with an international team, have developed a protocol to deal with them. They worked with colleagues from IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Naya Raipur, Kyungpook National University, South Korea, and the University of Wollongong.

BSES ties up with startup to install subsidised EV charging stations in Delhi

Tata Motors to launch 10 new long range electric cars to take EV industry by storm

Tata Motors appears to be all set to take the nascent electric vehicle industry in India by storm with the launch of at least 10 new electric cars. The automaker also recently raised a massive investment from TPG Rise Climate. The investment firm has announced that it is investing $1 billion or INR 7500 crore in the Indian carmaker.
