The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India published the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022 on 24th August, 2022 to ensure environmentally sound management of waste batteries. Notification of these rules is a transformative step towards implementation to promote Circular Economy in full earnest.

Amendments to EV battery testing standards: AIS156 and AIS-038 (Rev 2) to be implemented in two phases w.e.f 1st Dec, 2022 and 31st March, 2023

The policy is framed with the mission to provide an enabling framework through incentives and initiatives for promoting zero emission mobility with societal, economic and environmental considerations at forefront.

The policy aims to promote adoption of sustainable and clean mobility solutions and infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and become one of India’s leading state for electric vehicles adoption. It also envisions to emerge as one of the India’s preferred investment destination for EV ecosystem globally.

The Punjab government aims to establish favorable conditions for the production of EVs, EV manufacturing facilities, EV components, batteries, and EVSE.

Tamil Nadu government has launched its Electric Vehicles Policy-2023, with an aim to increase the usage of electric vehicles to transform the state into a preferred destination for EV manufacturing.

In an effort to control environmental pollution in the state of Punjab brought on by vehicle emissions, the Punjab Cabinet, approved the Punjab Electric Vehicle Policy (PEVP) 2022 on 3rd February 2023.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on March 14, 2023 published the Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2023 to further amend the central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. These Draft rules shall be taken into consideration after the expiry of thirty days from the data on which the copies of this notification as published in the Official Gazette, are made available to the public

The Ministry of Power on 7th November 2022, revised the consolidated Guidelines & Standards for charging infrastructure of electric vehicle in which it has notified that thepublic charging stations shall have the feature of prepaid collection of service charges with the time of the day rates and discount for solar hours. Further, a Committee under Central Electricity Authority (CEA) will periodically recommend to the State Government the ceiling limit of service charges to be levied. This Committee shall also recommend “time of the day rate” for service charges as well as the discount to be given for charging during solar hours.

The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2020 was approved vide Cabinet Decision No.2796 dated 23.12.2019 and the same was notified on 07.08.2020. The Policy will remain valid for a period of three years. This document provides the operational guidelines for delivery of demand incentives for e-cycles offered under this policy i.e. Purchase and Scrapping Incentives.
