Abstract:
A confluence of new technology trends and business models, is bringing about fundamental changes in the global mobility landscape. Ensuring sustainable and efficient mobility of people and goods, particularly in an increasingly urbanizing scenario, is one of India’s key challenges. There is an urgent need to reimagine and restructure the mobility planning and approaches, policies, regulations, systems and instruments. The increasing adoption of big data and AI will also radically improve key aspects of mobility ranging from maximizing asset utilization and services, comprehensive electrification and alternative fuels, reinventing public transport, logistics and goods transport, data analytics and mobility. In the context of this need, this case-based compilation attempts to bring together some best practices from across the world, as well as from Indian states. It serves as an aid for reflection, helping policy-makers and key stakeholders in their challenging task of delineating the way forward.
