Abstract:
The effects of global supply chain shortages due to the COVID epidemic and the war in Ukraine continue to be felt in the European car market, with the roughly 2,300,000 total new car registrations in the first quarter of 2022 equating to a 12% drop compared to the same time period in 2021. The average share of battery electric (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) increased only marginally in the first quarter (+1% from 2021 for BEVs, no change for PHEVs), making up an average of 20% of total registered.
