Abstract:
BEVs have shown a proliferating production in the past few couple of years. But still not free from hindrances of high cost, charging times, limited range, and low specific power. FCEVs, on the other hand, have longer ranges and specific power when compared to BEVs. The hydrogen refueling time is only minutes and on single refueling, they can travel much longer than BEVs. It is difficult in the present scenario to have a debate on plus points of BEV and FCEV as both are better in one means or the other. The need of the hour is to develop a propulsion system that can have lower emissions, longer range, regeneration capabilities, and which can have a longer life. Many researches were conducted on Solar electric vehicles (SEV), which are similar to BEV, except that they have solar panels on the body and have low sized batteries. They also suffer from low range, recharging issues, and night travel or when there is no solar radiation. The present work is focused on developing a hybrid system consisting of solar, battery, and fuel cell for powering an electric vehicle. From literature, it is evident that only very few researches have been done on the proposed combination.
