Energy Consumption Optimization of Electric Vehicles

2023

Author(s): Sun Z

This master thesis report has studied several methods to improve the energy consumption of an electric vehicle equipped with two permanent magnet synchronous motors. Two driving torque distribution maps are developed based on efficiency map and load transfer, respectively. The drive torque distribution map based on the efficiency map shows up to 8.94% energy saving.

In the present dissertation the impact of the regenerative braking function and the low noise emission on the driver are examined in detail. In the present dissertation both BEV specific features are examined from a psychological perspective. Regenerative braking, as a system to regain energy during deceleration, is implemented in most vehicles with electric power trains. This could have enduring consequences on driver behavior.

Traction Control for Hybrid Electric Vehicles

2012

Author(s): Sá T O B P

The study aims at analyzing the control domain in electric mobility and discussing the design of the controller that drives the motor, allowing its driving and braking, with the ability to regenerate braking energy for recharging the batteries. The system should be capable of working without speed or position sensors.

The Four-Quadrant Transducer System for Hybrid Electric Vehicles

2005

Author(s): Nordlund E

In this thesis a hybrid electrical powertrain called the Four Quadrant Transducer (4QT) has been evaluated through different driving simulations, which later resulted in the manufacture of a prototype. The simulation of a 12 metric ton distribution truck showed that the 4QT system can reduce the fuel consumption by approximately 30 % during the FTP75 drive cycle.
