Abstract:
Nowadays, the interest in electric vehicle (EV) technology is growing because of their reduced fuel emissions, and their numbers are expected to grow rapidly in the near future. This necessitates a consistent development in their charging facilities, particularly wireless charging infrastructures, which are intended for private, commercial and public applications to operate for residential as well as public charging stations. The availability of wireless charging facilities can alleviate the problems of charger connectivity, charging time and range anxiety, which can be considered to be the most important barriers standing in the way of the wide acceptance of EVs. Deployment of such efficient and reliable high-power wireless charging infrastructures at short distances would support an unrestricted range for EVs. However, the practical implementation of EV wireless charging infrastructure has been facing numerous technical challenges. The key challenges for the deployment of the wireless charging system are poor coupling coefficient between the transmitter and receiver, misalignment between the transmitter and receiver power pads, foreign object interruption such as metal or living beings. These challenges have been addressed in this thesis.
