Developing an electric mobility roadmap: international experiences from subnational case studies for Vietnamese cities
2022
Author(s): Liu K, Ly S, Jackson E, Steimer H, Cassius S, Li X, Myers E, Duarte L H, Freehafer L
The current study provides preliminary recommendations for Vietnamese cities by using subnational case studies to compare city and provincial electric mobility roadmaps. It also discusses the process to prepare, create and implement electric mobility roadmap, covering aspects such as prerequisite analyses, stakeholder engagement, supporting policy formulation, and monitoring.
A Review on Powertrain Subsystems and Charging Technology in Battery Electric Vehicles: Current and Future Trends
2022
Author(s): Wagh K, Dhatrak P
This paper describes and assesses the latest technologies in different elements of battery electric vehicles (BEV), i.e., powertrain architectures, propulsion and regeneration systems, energy storage systems, and charging techniques.
Data-Driven Battery State of Health Estimation Based on Random Partial Charging Data
2022
Author(s): Deng Z, Hu X, Li P, Lin X, Bian X
The rapid development of battery technology has promoted the deployment of electric vehicles (EVs). To ensure the healthy and sustainable development of EVs, it is urgent to solve the problems of battery safety monitoring, residual value assessment, and predictive maintenance, which heavily depends on the accurate state-of-health (SOH) estimation of batteries.
Update on the global transition to electric vehicles through 2020
2022
Author(s): Cui H, Hall D, Li J, Lutsey N
This briefing provides an update on electric vehicle market and policy developments globally through 2020, with a focus on changes since our previous update in 2019. It includes information on how several governments in major markets have revised their vehicle electrification targets and developed related policies, as well as summarizes global electric vehicle market growth in 2020. This briefing considers battery electric vehicle (BEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), and fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) technologies but does not examine non-plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
An Assessment of Electric Vehicles and Vehicle to Grid Operations for Residential Microgrids
2022
Author(s): O'Neill D, Yildiz B, Bilbao JI
This paper evaluates the annual operation and benefits of EVs and V2G in a microgrid environment and demonstrates different modes of operation. Guided by the gaps identified in the literature, one of the main contributions of this research is to uncover the impact of EV charging scenarios on the V2G operations.
Experimental Driving Performance Evaluation of Battery-Powered Medium and Heavy Duty All-Electric Vehicles
2022
Author(s): Sato S, Jiang YJ, Russell RL, Miller JW, Karavalakis G, Durbin TD, Johnson KC
This study evaluated and quantified the energy consumption rates and energy regeneration rates for three heavy-duty battery electric vehicles (a step van, a yard tractor, and a class 8 truck) using driving cycle tests with a heavy-duty vehicle chassis dynamometer.
Life-Cycle Assessment and Life-Cycle Cost Assessment of Power Batteries for All-Electric Vessels for Short-Sea Navigation
2022
Author(s): Perčić M, Frković L, Pukšec T, Ćosić B, Li OL, Vladimir N
The aim of this research is to compare the conventional power system with a diesel engine and alternative power system with a selected battery to identify convenient technology for zero-emission shipping according to the environmental and economic criteria.
Optimizing the Electrification of Roads With Charge-While-Drive Technology
2022
Author(s): Schwerdfeger S, Bock S, Boysen N, Briskorn D
This paper provides a detailed modeling approach based on continuous variables to minimize the installation costs for electrified highway kilometers while providing sufficient energy for a given set of representative tours of electric vehicles.
Exploring the Characteristics of Technological Knowledge Interaction Dynamics in the Field of Solid-State Batteries: A Patent-Based Approach
2022
Author(s): Block A, Song CH
This study provides a novel patent-based analysis framework for identifying the latent knowledge structure of technological domains by adopting dynamic perspectives. It uses patent data collected between 2010 and 2018 to systematically examine and visualize promising knowledge interactions that could foster the advancement of solid-state battery technology.
Emissions Life Cycle Assessment of Diesel, Hybrid and Electric Buses
2022
Author(s): Zhao E, Walker PD, Surawski NC
This paper applies a case study approach for Australia and calculates the equipment life cycle assessment of diesel, hybrid and electric buses. This study prepared the assessment according to the procedures and methodologies outlined in the ISO 14040:2006 Environmental Management – Life Cycle Assessment.
