India unveils ambitious Rs 8,000 crore plan to boost electric vehicle battery production: Report

India is set to initiate the bidding process for an approximately Rs 8,000 crore ($960 million) incentive scheme dedicated to the production of electric vehicle batteries, as disclosed in a Bloomberg report. The scheme will mandate successful bidders to establish cutting-edge chemistry battery plants, collectively generating a capacity of 20 gigawatt-hours.

EV cluster in Coimbatore to focus on motor testing

About 150 Micro, Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Coimbatore city have come together to form a cluster and take up development, testing, and production of motors for electric vehicles. BIS approved India’s first AC, DC combined charging connector for Light EVs

City engineers can implement these in as little as five minutes, using existing infrastructure. Green Light is already live and helping to reduce emissions at intersections in 12 cities: Abu Dhabi, Bali, Bangalore, Budapest, Haifa, Hamburg, Hyderabad, Jakarta, Kolkata, Manchester, Rio de Janeiro and Seattle.
