Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram airports switch to EVs to reduce emissions

Indian airports are investing in electric vehicles (EVs) as they look to reduce carbon emissions. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has announced deployment of 57 electric vehicles as a part of its green transportation programme. Thiruvananthapuram airport has acquired four EVs for its engineering and maintenance teams.

The Thiruvananthapuram international airport has procured four electric vehicles as part of its endeavor to achieve Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Level 4+ and net-zero status. The vehicles will be used by the engineering and maintenance and the landside operations team at the airport for their routine work.

One in ten petrol pumps now offers EV charging, CNG

India has about 84,600 fuel retail outlets, of which 8,900 offer alternative fuels such as CNG, auto LPG or EV charging facilities, according to the oil ministry data. EV charging facility is available at 4100 pumps, CNG at 4000 pumps and auto LPG at 700. The private sector, which controls a tenth of the country's fuel stations, offers alternative fuelling options at less than 200 pumps.

Delhi gets 11 ‘cheaper’ EV Charging Stations

To give a further push to the adoption of electric vehicles, chief minister of Delhi, Mr Arvind Kejriwal has launched 11 high-tech, low-cost EV charging stations in the capital. The stations have been set up on public-private partnership (PPP), and have 73 charging points and 12 battery swapping facilities.

BEL, Triton Electric Vehicle (TEV) sign MOU

Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed an MoU with Triton Electric Vehicle (TEV), for manufacture of hydrogen fuel cells by BEL with technology transfer from TEV, to meet the requirements of Indian market and mutually agreed export markets. The MoU aims at tapping the demand for clean energy solutions for various applications including for e-mobility, by leveraging Government of India’s thrust for adoption of clean energy fuels for applications in transport, energy storage etc.
