A Study on Controller Design for Rechargeable E-vehicle and Augumentation of Intelligent Transportation System

Publication Year: 2020

Abstract:

Energy generated from the proposed regenerative braking system must be stored in the battery of the vehicle. DC-DC Converters plays a prominent role in such energy conversion process. In this work, it utilizes the Modified Boost converter with ideal transformer and Diode with operating frequency of 400 kHz and with reduced inductor size. Usage of modified DC-DC Boost converter yields maximum converter efficiency of 98.5 %. As an additional work, it is also anticipated the usage of energy stored in the battery of E-Vehicle during its idle time. This mechanism of using the accumulated energy in the battery of the vehicle is achieved through a well-defined Reactive power compensation scheme for house hold uses. The proposed reactive power compensation uses IGBT and IR2110 for its operation. The usage of higher carrier frequency up to 15 kHz with excellent heat dissipation scheme is also one of the important aspect of the proposed reactive power compensation scheme. The reactive power compensation scheme achieves a power factor improvement to almost the value of unity. The proposed scheme has some alternate functions such as it can be used as a stand-alone system for VAr injection or it can be also used as an inverter. After defining the alternate functions of the proposed E-Vehicle using Reactive power compensation schemes, it has also improvised the E-vehicle by including intelligent decision support and information systems.
