Abstract:
On February 14, the European Commission released its proposal to revise the currently adopted CO2 standards for trucks and buses. The proposal extends the scope to cover new vehicles and outlines a new set of rules and more ambitious CO2 reduction targets to decarbonize the heavy-duty sector to meet Europe’s climate goals. This webinar presented a first analysis of the technical and policy implications of the proposed regulation. Felipe Rodríguez, ICCT’s Heavy-Duty Vehicle Program Lead, and Eamonn Mulholland, Researcher in the Heavy-Duty Vehicle Program, examined the key elements of the proposal in a short presentation. The session included an interactive Q&A with participants to discuss the challenges and opportunities ahead for the trucking sector.
