Abstract:
Vehicular Ad-Hoc network (VANET) is a highly dynamic decentralized wireless communication network and becoming promising technology to create smarter and safer transportation system by deploying large array of applications. In most of the applications, broadcasting of huge amount of data is one of the primary services of VANET. Especially in multimedia applications such as streaming live audio/video or stored audio/video, needs efficient routing of multimedia data packets among fast moving vehicles with intermittent connectivity and thus difficult to accomplish with existing approaches. Broadcast storm and disconnected network problems are the two challenging issues in urban VANETs for information dissemination. So, we must meticulously consider the specific constraints like lesser delay, loss ratio and high bit rate while designing multimedia applications to achieve required Quality of Service (QoS). Therefore in this thesis the study attempts to fulfill the application by addressing information dissemination problem with an efficient routing and propose new cluster based protocol which overcomes design challenges mentioned above.
