Abstract:

This notification of Draft Battery Waste Management Rules, 2020 was published by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on 20th February 2020 in supersession of the Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules, 2001, published in the Gazette of India, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section 3(ii), vide number S.O.1035(E) dated 16th May 2001.

These draft rules contain detailed responsibilities of all stakeholders including manufacturer, importer, assembler, re-conditioner, producers, dealers, recyclers, consumers, auctioneer, importer, State Pollution Control Board/Pollution Control Committee, Central Pollution Control Board, Collection Centers, Dismantler, Customs Clearance etc.
