Scheme for Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India Phase II (FAME India Phase II)

Abstract:
The FAME India scheme was launched in April 2015 with the agenda to ramp up and meet the goals of National Electric Mobility Mission 2020. Department of Heavy Industry initiated the launch of Phase II of FAME on April 1, 2019 (to be implemented over a period of three years) based on the outcomes and experiences gained during Phase I from stakeholders for implementation along with the appropriate allocation of funds.
Under the FAME-II India scheme, the government intended to support 7090 electric buses; 10,00,000 e-2 Wheelers; 5,00,000 e-3 Wheelers, 20,000 strong hybrid 4 Wheelers and 35,000 e-4 Wheelers with total fund support of 8596 crores. The Scheme also envisaged setting up of adequate public charging infrastructure to instil confidence amongst EV users, through active participation and involvement of various stakeholders including government agencies, industries, and Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs).
