Abstract:

This short paper presents first propositions on how to increase the involvement of the transport sector in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), based on early results of an on-going cooperation between GIZ, SLoCaT and Ricardo Energy & Environment. The paper suggests three key propositions: 1) Improve understanding of the transport sector’s GHG reduction potentials and related co-benefits; 2) spur cooperation among national and regional stakeholders; 3) support cost assessments of action plans and help identify funding avenues for implementation.
