Publication Year: 2023

Author(s): Arriaga C, Brito J, Buysse C, Sharpe B

Abstract:

This paper presents a case study of Rudy’s Transportation Services Inc, a small courier service located in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Canada. Rudy’s Transportation Services is expanding and is considering acquiring a ZEV instead of an internal combustion engine vehicle (ICEV). To understand how Rudy’s Transportation Services will be affected when migrating to a medium-duty ZEV, this analysis predicts the daily driving strategy, including charging locations and charging time, and estimates operational costs. The study then forecast of the financial impact of purchasing a ZEV with a loan instead of an ICEV, including a return-on-investment analysis.
