Author(s): Kumar S

Abstract:

The World Resources Institute (WRI) tried to get answers to E-mobility related questions In conversation with Mr Saurabh Kumar, Managing Director, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

The following questions were addressed:

1. As a public sector company, you and your team have created a world-renowned energy efficiency program for LEDs. Now, why should India create an energy-efficient transport system?

2. In your expert opinion, what are the key policy and business ideas that India should pursue in order to reap the best rewards of an electric mobility system?

3. What are some of the key constraints in scaling up electric mobility at this stage?

4. What is EESL doing in this regard currently and what future projects can we hope to see?

5. At the MOVE Summit, you spoke about the convergence of battery storage and EVs, which brings me to my next question – how will the battery storage alter the transport and electricity sectors of the country? And where does India stand in this technology at this point?

6. What is your take on where India stands in this technology at this point?

7. What do you think is the role of research organizations like WRI in advancing electric mobility in India?
