Impact of Traffic Congestion on Economic and Environmental Sustainability of Road Transport: A Study of Chennai City
Publication Year: 2020
Author(s): Lunghar J
Abstract:
The present study is limited to the problem of traffic congestion in analysing the sustainable development in urban transport planning and modelling; Sustainable development is known to be a complex and integrated issue. A full integration will probably never be accomplished through concentrating only on the traffic congestion factor of sustainable urban development. Putting too many requirements on the concept may even lead to failure of achieving anything approaching a sustainable system. Therefore, it is always tried to keep the reader informed where, how and why part of the integration is not established. The focus in this research is on quantitative aspects of urban transport at a strategic application level. Furthermore, the research scholar reasoning comes principally from the economics point of view.
