Abstract:

The Government of India along with the Indian automotive industry had coherently aligned their objectives for the future of the automobile industry through the Automotive Mission Plan 2016-26 (AMP 2026). The plan proposed that by 2026, India will be among the top three in the world in engineering, manufacturing and export of vehicles and auto components. To achieve these objectives, and to resolve the key issues such as governance issues, lack of long term roadmaps, untapped R&D potential, shortage of skilled manpower, etc., the National Auto Policy is formulated.

This policy envisions the growth of the automotive industry through a comprehensive policy framework, as per the goals of AMP 2026.
