Abstract:
The report explores how advanced air mobility (AAM) can reshape India’s urban and regional transport landscape.
As India ranks third globally in domestic air traffic, this report serves as a strategic guide for local policy-makers to adopt AAM. It highlights key areas, including airspace management, infrastructure development and regulatory needs to support a phased AAM roll-out nationwide. Emphasizing economic impacts, AAM offers solutions to urban congestion, enhances access to remote areas, and creates new market opportunities – ultimately supporting India's development goals.
The report calls for an integrated vertiport network, advanced technologies and a regulatory framework, outlining actions to address noise, energy and community acceptance challenges. Through AAM, India can increase access to jobs, healthcare and markets, driving social inclusion and economic growth.
