Energy Crisis | SA to Start Electric Car Rollout in 2026

Abstract:
South Africa plans to roll out its first locally produced Electric Vehicle in 2026. But the country must first address its current electricity crisis. Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Mr Ebrahim Patel has released a white paper on the rollout of Electric Vehicles in the country. The plan is in line with international shifts away from the internal combustion engine to new green technology used in vehicles.
