Abstract:

The study proposed a customised pulse width modulation (cPWM) and applied on the conventional full-bridge DC-DC Converter (FBDC). Thereby, the performance of the conventional FBDC is improved in terms of conduction and switching losses in comparison to conventional PSM operated FBDC for partial ZVS for full battery charging range. Further, cPWM operated inductor-capacitor based auxiliary circuit-assisted FBDC is proposed.
The proposed configuration achieves the ZVS for full battery charging range. The value of the auxiliary inductor also reduces for cPWM in comparison to a PSM gating scheme-operated converter. Further, the diode clamping circuit is incorporated in FBDC without and with inductor-capacitor assisted FBDC configuration. In without auxiliary circuit configuration, the voltage spikes are reduced and rating of the secondary rectifier diodes is reduced to half of their initial values for the partial ZVS operation for full battery charging range. On other hand, clamping diode with auxiliary circuit based configuration is capable of achieving ZVS for full battery charging range with reduced voltage spikes. Overall, the efficiency of the proposed configurations operated with proposed cPWM is higher as compared to PSM operated configurations.
