Emerging Trends in Electric Vehicle in Indian Market
Publication Year: 2019

Abstract:
With mounting concerns about the environment and diminishing fossil fuel reserves, the world is moving towards sustainable fuels and modes of transport. Battery-operated electric vehicles and electric vehicles based on fuel cells are among the forerunners. In this paper, the authors discuss about the electric vehicle market scenario in India, electric vehicle supply equipment and globally available chargers (for both AC and DC). An economic model is proposed for setting up EV charging infrastructure at a mall in India based on recent regulations introduced by the Government of India. The authors discuss about its feasibility and in turn try to motivate private and semi-private bodies to come together in order to setup more charging stations, hence encouraging the boom of EV industry in India. A lot of investment should be made into research and development of the next generation battery technology, in order to make India a leader in EV technology and reducing our dependency on other countries for batteries.
