Performance Analysis of Iot Based Smart Off Road Electric Vehicles

Publication Year: 2022

Author(s): Arunkumar P L

Abstract:

With increasing demand for fossil fuels, the need for alternative resources emerges and electricity reaches out to be a key option particularly in the automotive and transportation sectors. Though there appears to be a move from petrol to diesel to compressed natural gas (CNG), still the use of electric vehicles becomes significant as part of the compliance of the clean energy act. However, it necessitates the electric vehicles to operate at their optimum capacities for claiming maximum efficiency through a process of being operated at a regulated recommended speed besides ensuring a longer life cycle for the battery. The emphasis in the thesis relates to the performance analysis of a speed control algorithm suitable for off-road electric vehicles through a STM32 microcontroller based embedded system and enabled by a cross-comparison with on-road vehicle to allow it to find a space in real-time vehicular systems. The performance evaluation includes an embedded C environment with a process of unit-testing based simulation to capture the merits of schema in terms of an improved vehicle performance under varying parametric conditions. The investigative framework includes the battery SoC and SoH, payload, temperature and the tyre pressure as the parameters for illustrating the ability of the algorithm to project a regulated speed for each chosen vehicle within a close tolerance and its capability to detect fatigue and proximity to the vehicles around the vicinity.
