Future of EV Charging
Publication Year: 2019

Abstract:
Electric vehicle charging infrastructure would be the main factor to ensure a smooth transition to e-mobility. This is where five technologies will play a crucial role in the infrastructure for charging EVs., i.e. smart charging (including vehicle-to-grid V2G technology), charging of EVs from photovoltaic panels, (ultra)fast charging, contactless charging, and on-road charging of EVs. With the use of smart charging, the EV charging power and direction can be continuously controlled. Smart charging of EVs can provide the EV owner and the EV charging infrastructure providers some advantages, such as reduced peak demand on the grid and reduced costs.
