Procurement Mechanisms to Scale up Adoption of Electric buses in India

Abstract:
This study is to evaluate the enabling mechanism to scale up adoption of electric buses (e-buses) in Indian cities to inform FAME-II guidelines and to improve capacity of bus agencies in procuring e-buses. Further to this, the report discusses alternative approaches for procurement of electric buses and provides technical inputs to agencies in their procurement processes. The report focusses on the specific technical inputs for e-bus procurement under alternative business models and provides the key learnings for the way forward. It highlights on how to develop guidance material for PT agencies on contracting of E-buses and build their capacity on contracting, procurement, planning and operation of e-buses.
