Abstract:
The study started with the hypotheses that nationalisation of road passenger transport in India generally and in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh particularly, would bring about an increase in operational efficiency, a decrease in the cost per unit, and efficient management leading to profitable operations, and that the benefits so derived would be and employees. It is now passed on to both consumers posed to state the main findings in this respect and the policy. These have been presented below in two dealing with general issues relating to implic at ions. V sections - Section A India’s road transport \ / rpolicy, including nationalisation, and Section B dealing with specific aspects of the working of the five nationalised road passenger transport undertakings in the States of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
