Abstract:

Objective of conducting this study of e-rickshaws was to analyse the current situation of e-rickshaws and create a better understanding of e-rickshaws. Since there is a deficiency of information related to e-rickshaws, perceptions of operator/commuter/authorities/dealers, issues, feasibility, performance, safety, comfort, maintenance, and various other related heads; a clear understanding of the scenario may be developed through this report. ICLEI South Asia conducted secondary analysis of primary study of e-rickshaw deployment results (in Kakinada, Udaipur, Gwalior) and feasibility analysis of existing deployment (in Siliguri and Delhi) which were a part of previous project.15 Development of the present report included: n Review of existing secondary information- Secondary study of deployment projects related to e-rickshaws in cities of Gwalior, Udaipur, Siliguri, Delhi and Kakinada with support from ICLEI South Asia. n Interviews of government officials, traffic police officials, manufacturers and other stakeholders involved in EV mobility sector of Delhi-NCR to understand the prevailing situation of the sector.
