Abstract:
This report, the result of the second phase of IsDB and SLoCaT collaboration, emphasises that a successful implementation of sustainable transport measures in the context of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda must involve concerted and coordinated efforts to more closely link the processes of developing, implementing and tracking progress toward Nationally-Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). The report links mechanisms in the climate change and sustainable development frameworks with the objective to identify synergies for the development, implementation and reporting on sustainable transport for IsDB member countries. The analysis of the six focus countries reveals that there is a need to better integrate various elements of sustainable, low carbon transport within NDCs, VNRs and national transport strategies and indicates the need for a framework to support more transparent and effective decision-making, which can accommodate and reconcile the interest of multi-stakeholders.
