Abstract:
With growing concerns of climate change and unreliable fuel market, the world is moving towards an electric-based transportation system, one that entails a country to overhaul major infrastructures, establish high monetary funded research, change government regulations, and adapt available resources to transform its gasoline-based transportation system to an electric one. In this paper, various completed projects, challenges, proven policies, and infrastructure development corresponding to EVs in developed countries are meticulously studied to develop a five-factor-dependent plan to efficiently expedite the EV sector in developing countries in general. The findings and suggestions relating to the EV sector’s development are presented in the general case of a developing country as well as in the specific case of Nepal to better understand the developed five-factor-dependent-plan. Favorable EV policies should be implemented, and EV-related businesses should be granted tax exemptions. These incentives will entice electric vehicle businesses to invest in developing countries. Furthermore, with advantageous plans and policies in place, more customers will be enticed to purchase electric vehicles for their everyday commute.
