Publication Year: 2025
Abstract:
The Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy 2025 is a progressive initiative of the Government of Maharashtra that is designed to expedite the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and establish the state as a premier EV manufacturing and mobility center in India. The policy, which will be in effect from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030, aims to attain a 30% EV penetration in new vehicle registrations by 2030 and to significantly reduce emissions. The policy provides purchase incentives for electric two-, three-, and four-wheelers, as well as electric buses, with a total financial outlay of ₹1,993 crore. It encompasses a complete exemption from road tax and registration fees, toll waivers on critical expressways, and assistance in the development of charge infrastructure throughout the state. The policy also encourages the development of skills, research in sustainable mobility technologies, and domestic EV manufacturing. The Maharashtra EV Policy 2025 endeavors to ensure that electric mobility is accessible, sustainable, and economically advantageous by providing infrastructure support and targeted incentives, in accordance with India's greater climate and industrial objectives.
