Publication Year: 2017
Author(s): Arora S, Pachouri A , Baveena K V
Abstract:
Cities must adopt progressive measures like road user pricing strategies for private modes of transport, commensurate with the estimated infrastructural and environment cost to society. These could include increased parking charges, introduction of congestion charges in central business districts of the city, and the introduction of tax instruments to discourage certain vehicle types or fuel technologies etc. This report reviews international best practices on road user pricing and propose strategies suitable for the Indian context.
