Abstract:
Guangdong Province has always been one of the leading markets for new energy vehicles, especially zero-emission vehicles in China. This study examined the benefits of electrification development in Guangdong Province on greenhouse gas emissions reduction, air quality improvement, and the achievement of environmental goals in 2035, and further explored the environmental benefits of setting higher electrification targets.
The study estimated Guangdong's road traffic emission inventory under the current policy scenario and the accelerated electrification scenario. Under the accelerated electrification scenario, the sales of zero-emission vehicles in Guangdong Province will reach 90% in 2035. Based on the road emission inventory, the study further conducted air quality simulations and evaluated the benefits of electrification on the improvement of NO2, PM2.5 and ozone concentrations in Guangdong Province.
