Abstract:
Electric vehicles (EV) are attaining more popularity owing to their environmental-friendly operation. EVs are good alternatives to the conventional internal combustion engine vehicles that are increasing greenhouse emissions, air pollution, and global warming. This paper focuses on the current state of EVs in India and the policies implemented in Tamil Nadu to make EVs more accessible to people. The paper also addresses global EV scenarios as well as the Indian government's EV policies. The efforts taken by the government of Tamil Nadu in making the EVs easily available of the public are also showcased. Integration with the grid through the Vehicle to Grid (V2G) allows becoming energy independent and financial benefit through bidirectional charging. The major challenges faced towards the EV adaptation are the charging woes, lack of power, initial cost, inadequate charging stations, and security. This paper focuses on providing insight into the future growth of modern electric vehicles.
