The EV charging system has been designed by Hygge Energy, a start-up incubated by Tech Mahindra, and has three main features — EVs charged with solar power, no upgrades required in grid infrastructure, and improved grid resilience, especially in remote areas. The technology enables intelligent EV charging using hybrid microgrids, created by integrating existing grid infrastructure with solar PV batteries.

Emerging markets switching from petrol and diesel engines to electric vehicles (EVs) could save $250 billion annually and slash expected growth in global oil demand by as much as 70 per cent. Analysing the International Energy Agency's business as usual emissions scenario, the analysis of EV cost trends by industry watchdog Carbon Tracker found that half of that growth is forecast to come from China and India.

Pure EV to expand capacity with new manufacturing facility: High-speed electric scooter coming soon

Electric vehicle startup Pure EV are set to significantly expand its manufacturing base to a larger facility with an annual capacity of 2 lakh electric vehicles (EV) and battery manufacturing capacity of 5 GWh in comparison with the existing capacities of 20,000 EVs and 0.5 GWh, respectively. This will be achieved with a new 2 lakh sq.ft. the manufacturing plant, which the company intends to commission during 2021 to meet the anticipated growth in the Indian electric vehicles and Lithium battery market. The company said it targets to sell close to 10,000 units of its soon-to-be-launched high-speed long-range model Etrance Neo in the first one year alone. The new model slated for a December 1 rollout, will be available first in Hyderabad.
Two-wheeler mobility startups take EV route to lower operational costs

Mobility start-ups such as Bounce, Vogo and Rapido, among others, are actively looking to include a bigger component of EVs in their respective fleets.
Govt shares vision for clean, green future of mobility

In recognition of Delhi’s electric vehicle policy, the Delhi government participated and shared its vision for a clean, green future of mobility at the UNFCCC ‘Race to Zero Dialogue: Launching the global race to zero-emission mobility' held on November 11, 2020. The dialogue was organised by the Climate Group in collaboration with the UN high-level climate champions and the UK COP26 presidency. Along with Delhi, two other states also shared their experiences and vision for EVs. Governor Gavin Newson represented the State of California, USA and Izaskun Goñi Razquin, a senior official from the Government of Navarra, Spain.
Bagalkot to house North Karnataka’s first electric vehicle manufacturing unit

With the aim of considerably cutting down on carbon emissions and give a fillip to sustainable mobility, the state government has given its nod for an electric vehicle manufacturing unit in Bagalkot district, the first-of-its-kind in North Karnataka. A proposal submitted by Balan Engineering Pvt Ltd to set up the electric vehicle manufacturing unit in Bagalkot district had been approved by the government.

India could save on crude oil imports worth over INR 1,07,566 crore ($14.1 billion) a year if electric vehicles (EVs) were to garner 30 per cent share of new vehicle sales by 2030, according to a study released today by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW). But this transition could also give rise to a combined annual value-added loss in the oil and the automobile sector of about INR 2 trillion ($25 billion).
Delhi: Electric Vehicle policy to be featured in dialogue series

Delhi’s new Electric Vehicle (EV) policy is garnering attention internationally with the state government being invited to take part in a series of dialogues organised by The Climate Group in collaboration with the UN High-Level Climate Champions and the COP26 Presidency. The event, ‘Race to Zero Dialogues: Launching the global race to zero-emission mobility’, which will focus on climate change, will be held virtually from November 9-19. Delhi is among the four cities in the world to have been invited to share their experiences.
Electric vehicles to get star ratings for efficiency like home appliances

Electric vehicles (EVs), batteries and charging equipment could be brought under the standardisation and labelling (S&L) programme of the government to define their efficiency using the star-rating method. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a government agency under the Ministry of Power, has been tasked to form the S&L programme for the EV industry. It could provide star ratings to EVs, batteries and supply equipment (EVSE) that would look similar to energy ratings given to 26 appliances and equipment under the S&L programme by BEE.
