The electric vehicle (EV) industry will get a big push, especially on the public transport front with the formulation of a Battery Swapping Policy that was announced in the Union Budget, as it provides an affordable solution to the critical issue of range anxiety. Making a provision for interoperability standards in the policy will allow the EV industry to collaborate and speed up the process of developing a battery swapping network in the country.

India's largest electric vehicle (EV) charging station with a capacity of 100 charging points for 4 wheelers, was opened recently at Delhi-Jaipur National Highway in Gurugram. The new EV charging station has been developed by tech-piloting company Alektrify Private Limited.
10k public buses in Delhi by 2023, 75% new vehicles electric

Delhi will have a fleet of nearly 10,000 buses for public transport, with 75% electric buses among the newly inducted vehicles, by mid next year, transport minister Mr Kailash Gahlot said. The city currently has 6,894 buses, of which 3,761, including one electric bus, are with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and 3,133 are operating under the cluster scheme.
IIT researchers develop new tech for charging electric vehicles which costs half the current one

CESL invites bids to acquire 5580 electric buses

State-owned Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL) floated tenders to acquire 5580 electric buses to be deployed across five main cities. The bid, which also comprises 130 double-deckers, is worth around INR 5500 crore. The buses will be deployed in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Surat and Kolkata in the first phase.
SDMC identifies 226 e-charging spots

Working on the central government’s stipulation that at least one e-charging station for electric vehicles should be available in a 2x2km grid, South Delhi Municipal Corporation has identified 226 feasible locations and hopes to install most charging stations by the end of the current financial year.
Delhi: DTC to get 1500 e-buses as part of mega tender for 5400 vehicles

Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is going to roll out 1500 electric buses in the national capital as part of the biggest-ever tender for electric buses to be launched by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). CESL has announced the floating of a request for proposals for 5450 single-deck and 130 double-decker e-buses aggregated across five major cities.
Niti Aayog proposes to include EVs in RBI's priority-sector lending guidelines

Delhi government signs two pacts to push electric vehicles in city

The Delhi government has signed two pacts with a central government subsidiary to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) in the national capital. While one pact will pave the way for installation of more charging and battery swapping stations at Cluster Scheme bus depots, the other will give loan interest relief to those buying electric autorickshaws, e-rickshaws and carts.
