Uttar Pradesh on track to be first Indian state with 100% EVs in government departments

In a major push to promote sales and usage of electric vehicles (EVs) in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the state government has set a target and has taken action to convert vehicles used in all government departments into EVs in a phased manner by 2030.
SIDBI to give loans to MSMEs for buying electric vehicles; lend to NBFCs for EV financing

MSMEs finding it difficult to access loans to purchase electric vehicles (EVs) for their day-to-day operations and commercial use will now be able to access credit directly from SIDBI, the principal financial institution for MSMEs in India. As per a pilot scheme Mission 50,000-EV4ECO announced under guidance from NITI Aayog, SIDBI has said that it will directly give loans to eligible MSMEs (including EV fleet operators, EV leasing companies and aggregators) to buy EVs including two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers and also to develop charging infrastructure including battery swapping.
EV sales in India crosses the one million-unit milestone

The industry registered an overall sales of 1,152,021 units, which includes e-buses, e-cars, e-three-wheelers, and e-two-wheelers, according to data from Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles. This is a 58% spike in sales in FY22-23, compared to EV sales in FY21-22.
Tamil Nadu has INR 30,000-cr investment commitments in EV sector

US, Japan reach agreement on vital minerals for electric vehicle batteries

Japan and the United States have reached an agreement on trade in critical minerals for electric vehicle batteries, part of an effort to diversify supply chains and reduce reliance on China for strategically important resources. Germany has declared last-minute opposition to a landmark European Union law to end sales of CO2-emitting cars in 2035, demanding that sales be allowed of new cars with internal combustion engines after that date if they run on e-fuels. The EU rules would require all new cars sold from 2035 to have zero CO2 emissions, making it effectively impossible to sell new fossil fuel-powered cars.
