Japan's Suzuki to invest $35 billion through 2030 in EVs

Suzuki Motor Corp will invest 4.5 trillion yen ($34.8 billion) through fiscal 2030 in research, development and capital spending to make battery electric vehicles. The company would invest 2 trillion yen in electrification and autonomous driving technologies, while allocating 2.5 trillion yen to build a battery EV plant and for renewable energy facilities.

Electric two-wheeler sales surge 300%, breach 600,000-mark in 2022

The electric two-wheeler (E2W) market crossed the 600,000 sales target (of units) and achieved a market penetration of 4 per cent in Calendar 2022 (CY22), reveals VAHAN data. According to VAHAN, 624,192 two-wheeler units were registered in the country, up a staggering 300 per cent over 2021, when only 153,523 units were registered; electric vehicle (EV) penetration was just 1 per cent.

Mumbai international airport opens EV charging stations in Terminal 1 and 2

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has installed six DC fast EV charging stations at Terminal 1and 2. From December 9, 2022, the fast charging stations are available for service and open as Public Charging Stations for passengers as well as guests visiting CSMIA. Indian airports are investing in electric vehicles (EVs) as they look to reduce carbon emissions. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has announced deployment of 57 electric vehicles as a part of its green transportation programme. Thiruvananthapuram airport has acquired four EVs for its engineering and maintenance teams.

The Thiruvananthapuram international airport has procured four electric vehicles as part of its endeavor to achieve Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) Level 4+ and net-zero status. The vehicles will be used by the engineering and maintenance and the landside operations team at the airport for their routine work.

One in ten petrol pumps now offers EV charging, CNG

India has about 84,600 fuel retail outlets, of which 8,900 offer alternative fuels such as CNG, auto LPG or EV charging facilities, according to the oil ministry data. EV charging facility is available at 4100 pumps, CNG at 4000 pumps and auto LPG at 700. The private sector, which controls a tenth of the country's fuel stations, offers alternative fuelling options at less than 200 pumps.
