Thermal Encapsulation of Large Battery Packs for Electric Vehicles Operating in Cold Climate
2022
Author(s): Ramesh Babu A, Minovski B, Sebben S
This work numerically investigates the potential of thermal encapsulation of large battery packs for electric truck applications. Vehicle-level simulations were performed under drive cycle conditions at different operating temperatures to study its influence on the battery performance.
Accelerating Hainan’s Transition to New Energy Vehicles to Hit Its Target for Peak CO2 Emissions by 2030
2022
Author(s): Cui H, Xie Y, Niu T
This paper evaluates the necessity of accelerating Hainan’s transition to NEVs by using ICCT’s Roadmap model to project tank-to-wheel CO2 emissions from Hainan’s on-road transportation sector through 2035 under two different scenarios. The baseline year is 2021 and all passenger vehicles, buses, coaches, and trucks are included.
Deploying Charging Infrastructure to Support an Accelerated Transition to Zero-Emission Vehicles
2022
Author(s): Bernard M R, Kok I, Dallmann T, Ragon P-L
The study shows more than 100 million chargers, including 6.2 million public ones representing 240 GW of public installed power output, will be needed across ZEVTC jurisdictions by 2030. As of mid-2022, only 13% of public chargers and 10% of power output were in place.
EV-Ready India Part 1: Value Chain Analysis of State EV Policies
2019
Author(s): World Economic Forum
This White paper uses a Value Chain Framework to analyse the EV policies in 10 Indian States. The Value Chain framework pays attention to the multisectoral and multistakeholder aspects of EV-policies - separated into three different value chains; the value chain of electric vehicles, the value chain of charging, and the value chain of the surrounding network. It ensures that overall sustainability is considered from cradle to grave.
Thermal and Electrical Characterization of an Electric Vehicle Battery Cell, an Experimental Investigation
2022
Author(s): Gungor S, Cetkin E, Lorente S
This paper documents the experimental characterization of a Li-ion battery cell during the charging/discharging cyclic operations. The study of the battery cell is conducted in the absence of a cooling aid system and provides thermal and electrical insights.
What Affects Consumers’ Intention To Recycle Retired EV Batteries in China?
2022
Author(s): Dong B, Ge J
To understand consumers’ intention to recycle EVs’ retired batteries, a study using the theory of planned behavior, value-belief-norm (VBN) theory, and the benefit-risk analysis (BRA) model was combined with three extended factors, namely, recycling experience, policy incentives, and product after-sales.
An Immune Algorithm for Solving the Optimization Problem of Locating the Battery Swapping Stations
2022
Author(s): Zhang H, Zhang K, Zhou Y, Ma L, Zhang Z
In this paper, an integer programming problem model was formulated to reasonably locate battery swapping stations, where total costs (including construction, operation and maintenance, and travel costs) were minimized.
Determinants of Adoption Intention of Battery Swap Technology for Electric Vehicles
2022
Author(s): Adu-Gyamfi G, Song H, Nketiah E, Obuobi B, Adjei M, Cudjoe D
In this study, the adoption intention of BST for EVs is explored as BST′ success depends on consumer acceptance to guarantee pro-environmental consumption and pollution reduction. The current study extends the theory of planned behavior (TPB) with perceived benefits and knowledge.
Synergies Between Repositioning and Charging Strategies for Shared Autonomous Electric Vehicle Fleets
2022
Author(s): Dean MD, Gurumurthy KM, de Souza F, Auld J, Kockelman KM
This study couples charging and repositioning events to improve service quality (rider wait times), reduce empty travel due to repositioning or charging, and improve fleet utilization (average daily trips per vehicle and charging queues).
Why Are Charging Stations Associated With Electric Vehicle Adoption? Untangling Effects in Three United States Metropolitan Areas
2022
Author(s): White LV, Carrel AL, Shi W, Sintov ND
Many policies to support battery electric vehicle (BEV) adoption involve the roll-out of public charging stations. While the greater density of public charging stations is correlated with higher BEV adoption, the mechanisms underlying this effect are not well understood.
