Co-Design Optimization Framework for Electrified Buses in Cities: Brussels Case Study
2018
Author(s): Hegazy O, El Baghdadi M, Coosemans T, Van Mierlo J
Nowadays, electric buses are promising alternative solutions to replace the conventional diesel buses in public transport and to improve the air quality thanks to their zero-tail pipe emissions.
The Northwest Electric Showcase Project is an effort led by Forth. The Pacific Northwest Electric Showcase set out to promote plug-in vehicles to the masses and educate and objectively stimulate electric vehicles sales and accelerate the buying process.
DC Charger Simulation Results Compared to Measurements
2018
Author(s): Baraniak J, Starzynski J
The article presents Matlab Simulink simulation model of an electric vehicle charger. The results of the simulations are compared to the results of measurements registered in the actual distribution network supplying the DC charger, showing good agreement.
The View from the Bus: Better Transportation Means Better Lives
2018
Author(s): Dasgupta A
Cities are home to more than half the global population, produce three quarters of GDP and greenhouse gas emissions, and are still growing in nearly every respect.
Are We Ready for Autonomous Vehicles? The Uncertain Road Ahead
2018
Author(s): Hidalgo D
Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are being tested in California, Pittsburgh, Singapore, Paris and Oslo. Proponents of AVs point to the promise of a safer, faster, cleaner and more convenient commute.
As Cities Grapple With Mobility Revolution, 10 Principles Emerge to Guide Them
2018
Author(s): Chase R
Mobility is undergoing a huge shift from the emergence of shared cars and bicycles to the impending self-driving cars and we’re just starting to understand the full effect on cities. The revolution has implications for equity, accessibility and sustainability, and has caught many cities unawares, leading to court battles, unexpected impacts on congestion and lots of uncertainty.
Electric Mobility in Europe: A Comprehensive Review of Motivators and Barriers in Decision Making Processes
2018
Author(s): Biresselioglu ME, Demirbag Kaplan M, Yilmaz BK
The long-term goal of the EU to achieve a competitive low-carbon economy is mainly focused on encouraging environmentally sustainable investments, in particular with regard to reducing energy consumption in buildings, the transition to electric vehicles and developing smart electricity networks, thus promoting the use of renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 80% by 2050 compared to 1990 levels.
Electric Vehicles in India: Financial and Environmental Perspectives
2018
Author(s): Goswami R, Tripathi GC
To save our planet from climate change, reducing automotive pollution worldwide is a cumbersome challenge. One solution to reducing pollution may be the introduction of electric vehicles. In this paper, various factors of total cost of ownership of conventional and electric cars from both financial and environmental perspectives are studied.
Monte Carlo Procedure to Evaluate the E-mobility Impact on the Electric Distribution Grid
2018
Author(s): Mirbagheri SM, Bovera F, Falabretti D, Moncecchi M, Delfanti M, Fiori M, Merlo M
The aim of this paper was to evaluate the impact of the e-mobility charging processes on the electric grid, in a real-life study case. The study was developed according to three different recharging modes, the first based on domestic charging process, the second relevant to public fast charging station, the latter based on enhanced, very fast, public charging stations.
E-Mobility: Smart Grid and Charging Session of Electric Vehicles
2018
Author(s): Corzato G, Secco L, Rasheed A, Nagar AK, Secco EL
Since the beginning of the twenty-first century, the e-mobility market has been aiming for a radical and substantial change of mentality by the community. The fundamental objective of this new vision is the reduction of CO2 emissions, which are the main cause of global temperature rise.
