India to witness 48,000 more EV chargers in next 3-4 years, Icra says

The number of electric vehicles on roads in India has reached over ten lakh with around 1700 charging stations operational in public places across the country, Union Minister Mr Nitin Gadkari informed Lok Sabha recently. As per Vahan 4 data, as of March 25, 2022, a total of 10,76,420 EVs and a total of 1742 Public Charging Stations (PCS), as per the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), are operational.

However, purchase of petrol, diesel and CNG vehicles for bureaucrats, ministers and senior officials will continue. Shifting to electric cars for official purpose is to set an example, and push the public to adopt e-vehicles and reduce vehicular pollution.
HPCL partners Statiq to set up EV charging stations in UP, Bihar, Uttarakhand

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and electric vehicle (EV) charging network operator Statiq have entered a collaboration to set up more than 200 charging stations across the highways of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Uttarakhand. With varying combinations of three or seven kW slow units, these chargers will be compatible with EVs from all brands.

Suzuki Motor, parent of India's largest automaker Maruti Suzuki, announced on Sunday that it would invest INR 10,440 crore to build a new electric car and battery factory in India. Maruti Suzuki, which sells one in every two cars on Indian roads, is expecting to roll out affordable EV models in both Japan and India as early as 2025.
India’s first hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric car project

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has unveiled a project to introduce India’s first hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric car as one of the biggest emerging car markets looks to expedite its transition to clean transport. Toyota will work with the government’s testing agency International Centre for Automotive Technology to study the fuel cell electric car Mirai for Indian roads and climatic conditions.
