Centre sanctions INR 800 crore under FAME II for fast charging stations

The EV charging stations from OMCs would be of the CCS-II type with a capacity of 50 KW and above, offering efficient and fast charging for EV owners, especially for those looking for on-the-go top-up charging. The ministery for heavy industries have announced the sanction of INR 800 crore under FAME India Scheme Phase II to the state-owned oil marketing companies (OMC) - Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. - for setting up 7432 public fast charging stations across the country.

US, Japan reach agreement on vital minerals for electric vehicle batteries

Japan and the United States have reached an agreement on trade in critical minerals for electric vehicle batteries, part of an effort to diversify supply chains and reduce reliance on China for strategically important resources. Germany has declared last-minute opposition to a landmark European Union law to end sales of CO2-emitting cars in 2035, demanding that sales be allowed of new cars with internal combustion engines after that date if they run on e-fuels. The EU rules would require all new cars sold from 2035 to have zero CO2 emissions, making it effectively impossible to sell new fossil fuel-powered cars.

Delhi has shown the highest electric vehicle (EV) penetration in India at 8.3% between April 2021 and September 2022, a study by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), has shown. The study, called the Greening India's Automotive Sector, found that the Burari RTO is the greenest in India. Between April 2021 and September 2022, 46.38% of sold vehicles registered were EVs.
